A page shows its history

One line per change under the page — who made it, what kind of change, when — and a tap to see the text before and after and the source it came from. Built 9 September (documents v1.11).

Built. Shipped 9 September (documents v1.11), from a shape Vee pointed at on 20 August — Linear's Activity list. It is on every page now: see Team Brain. The mockups below are how it looks; the one thing they simplify is the line, which shows the plain verb — and, for a rename, the new name — while the source, the before-and-after and your words all stay behind the tap.

What you will see

Under a page's note sits History: one plain line for every change the page has had, newest first — the most recent change sits at the top. Nothing above it changes. There is no marker on the page, no count, no badge.

Who and what, on one line. The agent that made the change and the person it was acting for — the one who dropped the file or asked for the note — because an agent does not edit a page on its own. Then the kind of change: created the page, edited the page, renamed the page. Then when. A page nobody has written on says No changes yet. Three edits from one filing are three lines for now; folding them into one is a later refinement.

The text before and after, and where it came from. What the change replaced is struck through; what it wrote is highlighted. Page references inside them are links, as on the page. Below, the source the change came from and the spot in it — the page of a PDF, the line of a note — as a link that opens the original the way the row under Documents does: a new tab, or Couldn't open this beside it.

When the change came from something you said

Priya — point of contact from October
    from a message in #acme · line 1
Turbo said: “note this: Priya is the new point of contact at Acme from October”

Your words are kept with the change. A note you asked Snoopy to file, or a correction you gave it, shows what you said. A source in a room you are not in reads Source not available to you — no name, no spot — the same refusal you get if you try to open it.

Older changes know what, not who or why. Before 5 September nothing recorded which agent made a change or which source it came from, so those lines say An agent and open to No source recorded. The text is still there. A page the old agent rewrote whole shows rewrote the page and opens to the two versions.

What this does not do yet

Undo stays with the agent for now — tell Snoopy in the channel and the reversal is recorded here like any other change; a button on the line is later. Correcting by reply is its own rung. A list of the page's sources, rolled up from these lines, is the step after. Nothing here tells you where a single sentence came from — a change is recorded per edit, so the source and page named are the edit's.
