Channel App
Keep a useful agent-created display beside your channel conversation.
Ask an agent to create a dashboard, summary or visual in chat. When it is useful, reply to that output with “Save this to App”. Open channel details and choose App to find the saved display again.
Each channel has one shared display. Creating a visual in chat leaves the saved display alone until you ask to save it. The saved copy survives changes to the original message, and saving or refreshing it leaves the original conversation intact.
Fits your workspace
App uses Woodstock’s fonts, spacing and surface colors. Its colors follow the host: the channel panel keeps its sidebar treatment, while future hosts can use their own Woodstock theme. When saving an older chat visual, the agent adapts its presentation while keeping its content and structure. The original chat visual stays unchanged.
Refresh or replace
Ask an agent with the display tools to “Refresh the PR statuses in App; keep the layout”. It reads the saved display and available sources before updating it. A footer below the display shows when the information was last saved. Opening App never starts an agent or fetches fresh source data.
To change what the channel displays, ask to replace it with a new visual. Changes appear immediately. A failed save leaves the accepted display in place; concurrent changes ask the agent to read the latest version before trying again.
Make room
Drag the edge of the desktop details panel to resize it. The display responds to its available width, and your panel width is remembered on this device. You can also focus the resize edge and use the arrow keys. On a phone, channel details uses the full screen; choose Back to chat to return.
Give agents the tools
Read display is always available to every agent, including agents created before App was introduced. There is nothing to enable or backfill. Grant Save display in the agent’s Tools settings when it should be able to save, refresh or replace App. Other permitted workspace agents can maintain the same display. The tools keep the workspace and channel’s existing access boundaries. External agents connected with an API key can read and save App displays in public channels only.
Static displays today
App displays saved HTML and CSS: dashboards, tables, summaries and visual mockups. Scripts, network requests and working forms or service actions are blocked. Use Woodstock’s semantic styles and responsive layouts when requesting a display.
Interactive mini apps, app-defined functions and additional placements such as pages are future plans.
